Achieving true mental freedom isn’t a cakewalk but it is possible and completely within your reach if you follow the steps I’ve laid out for you.
In this post, you read about how to take responsibility for your actions. We discussed how it doesn’t matter if we try to think positively about the situations we’re in if we’re still blaming someone else and have a powerless “victim mentality”.
And, in this post, we talked about how to take responsibility for your thoughts by becoming hyper-aware of any negative thoughts so that you can immediately replace them with positive ones.
Today I want to dive deep into the third step towards mental freedom: reprogramming the subconscious mind.
This practice can help you achieve more than seems possible right now. It can align you with your hopes and dreams and cause shifts in your life that will rock your world.
Let me ask you a question…
How far has simply committing to positive thinking gotten you in the past? For about as long as you kept up with your New Years resolutions, am I right?
That’s because your positive thinking won’t stick with you for the long term unless your subconscious beliefs match that positive thinking. The reason this third step is so powerful is because your undesired habits, the beliefs that drive the thoughts and actions that you want to change, are all stored in the subconscious and 99.99% of people have no idea how to transform the subconscious.
But, YOU ARE going to become apart of that elite group, the 1% who understand how to work within the subconscious mind, so stick with me here…
Today you’re going to learn how to make the powerful forces of your subconscious mind work for you instead of against you.
If you’re not aware of your subconscious programming, there are certain “programs” that are working for you, and certain ones that are working against you.
Today we want to focus on how to weed out what’s not working for you.
What is the subconscious anyway?
Sigmund Freud made the discussion of the subconscious or the unconscious popular in mainstream discourse. He said to picture the tip of the iceberg, the tiny part that we see above water, as the conscious mind and that massive structure underneath the water, as our subconscious or our unconscious. Every single belief we have is running constantly in the background in the subconscious.
Throughout our lives, we’re exposed to an amazing amount of: stimuli, thoughts, ideas, and advertising and this exposure plants thoughts in our mind. Think of each of these thoughts as a tiny seed. The seeds that we accepted as truth, grow over time and the roots permeat every single corner of our subconscious. That little seed of an idea that came from a parent or a friend or an advertising agency became a program running in the background behind all of our thoughts and actions.
How does that seed or an idea become a programmed belief?
Every time we think a thought, we activate certain neural pathways in the brain and every time we think that thought, it makes the neural pathway stronger and thicker and deeper. These pathways can go from being like a thin piece of string to becoming deeply embedded in the neural network of our brain.
Dr. Michael Merzenich, a leading Neuroscientist specializing in brain plasticity, speaks here about how our brains are constantly rewired based on repetitive thoughts, actions and behaviors.
We have all experienced this at some point in our lives. For example, when you learn to drive a car, it’s a very conscious effort at first. But, after a few months, the pattern becomes so embedded in the brain that driving becomes subconscious. In other words, it becomes automatic. Something that runs in the background while we talk to people who are in the car with us or even daydream or sing along with the radio.
When negative thoughts become this subconscious or automatic, they impact our perceptions, interpretations, language, actions and emotions. In fact, they impact EVERYTHING and unless we identity and weed out the subconscious negative programming running in the background, we’ll find ourselves constantly struggling. More often than not, we accept these programs as truth and make them a part of our identity.
Every single subconscious program was once nothing more than a seed of an idea, cast in your direction, which you have come to believe over time.
Subconscious programs are nothing more than seeds of thought that have grown into big, beautiful flowers and trees (positive beliefs + habits), or big thick ugly thorny weeds (negative beliefs + habits). The real power of the work I teach comes from first weeding out all of the weeds in the subconscious and replacing them with powerful, positive seeds that are able to take root immediately.
You can choose the exact flowers or trees you want to grow because you’re an adult, because you’re an individual, because you are a sovereign being and you have the right to choose what your subconscious beliefs are.
You can choose who you are and what you believe.
I have spent years teaching and perfecting the powerful tools of hypnosis, meditation, and neuro linguistic programming. I’ve melded them all together for you to reach the absolute most effective results possible and that’s what my teachings are all about.
